Steak Fries

Steak Fries RecipeWho doesn’t love a great french fry? I know for a fact that my family loves them, and I serve them, typically store bought, to my kids at least twice a week. Lately however, I have been making my own french fries, and I must admit that they are a lot better than the store bought fries. Very easy to make, and one that you can call your own, the steak fry is now being served.

What I love about steak fries is that they are a bit larger in size, and they are not fried. At least mine are not. They turn out with a great crisp on the outside, with a tender potato on the inside. These can be jazzed up with whatever spices you chose, but if you want to try these, then I think you are heading in the right direction. Great for a change on the regular fries, and they go perfect with your favorite burger, steak, or other grill buddy.

Ingredients: (serves two)

  • 1 large russet potato, skin on, cleaned
  • 2 tbsp of olive oil
  • Generous pinch of salt
  • pinch of pepper
  • 1 tbsp of Old Bay seasoning
  • Finely chopped flat leave parsley for garnish (optional)

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, allowing your baking sheet to go in the oven during the preheat.

Begin by cutting your potato into wedges. Start by halving the potato, lengthwise. Lay them on the flat side and cut them in half again, lengthwise.  Now, flip them over and at the point, take your knife in cut them in half. You should yield eight wedges.

Add the wedges to a large bowl, add the olive oil, salt and pepper, and the old bay seasoning. Make sure all of your wedges are coated with the olive oil and the spices. Add more if need be.

Remove the baking pan from the oven and add the wedges to the pan. Place in the oven for 45 minutes. This cooking time will allow you to prep your grill for any grilling you want to do, but listen, these wedges are so great, they can be eaten just by themselves!

I served my fries with a roasted garlic aioli, which in itself is just amazing. Enjoy.
