Simple Comfort Food

BLT (Bacon Lettuce Tomato) Salad

I declare that is Summer is officially here in Milwaukee. I typically go with the end of May, but I am sold on this wonderful weather we have been having, and with great weather comes great grilling and other fun foods. As I have been grilling a lot lately, and trust me I do not mind, I wanted to make something a bit different.

BLT Salad Recipe

I paid a visit to the dentist recently, and as we talked about food, as well always do, Joy had said that she made a BLT salad this past weekend. As I have been craving for a BLT sandwich lately, I thought what a better idea than to make the BLT sandwich with homemade croutons.

This salad is really quick to make, and I must admit was a big hit with my wife. The dressing consists of mayonnaise but comes out really light. This is a must make for any Summertime gathering.

Ingredients:

It’s just that easy.

If you are making your crouton, do this first, otherwise if you are using store bought croutons, then go ahead and cook your bacon on medium-low heat. As the bacon is cooking, get your blender or food processor ready and add in the mayonnaise, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder and process to make your dressing. Add this to a small bowl and store in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it on the salad.

To a large bowl, add the lettuce, croutons, and tomatoes. When the bacon is done cooking, remove from the pan and place on some paper towel to let any remaining bacon fat drain. Once the bacon is cooled, perform a rough chop on the bacon and add this to the bowl. Add the dressing and mix well to combine everything.

Dig in. A great take on the BLT sandwich.
