Bacon Wrapped Tater Tots

As I have stated in the past, I love tater tots, so much that I go out of my way and make my own. There is something about the crisp exterior, and the soft interior, that when those textures are combined with a bit of seasoning, well, you have yourself a home run side dish. If you have been following me for some time, you will also know that I love bacon, and Nueske’s bacon, at that.  So as I was sitting around on a Sunday morning and rummaging through the refrigerator, I looked at the two ingredients, and figured I would make some pre-game appetizers.

Let’s get started on this really delicious, and simple recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 12 Frozen tater tots
  • 3 strips of your favorite bacon
  • Blue cheese crumbles, optional

I told you it was simple. Three ingredients? Yes, please.

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.

Stack the three slices of bacon, then cut in half. Take the half slices, and cut those in half, lengthwise.

Next, lay a slice of the bacon on a plate. Add the tater tot about in inch from the bottom of the bacon. Roll over to cover the tater tot, and place on a baking sheet, seam side down.

Repeat with the remaining tater tots.

Place in the preheated oven and cook them for about 15-20 minutes, or until the bacon is crisp.

When you are ready to serve, place them on your serving dish, and serve alongside some blue cheese.

The end result is nothing short of amazing. You get that crisp, smoky bacon, that when paired with a simple tater tot, and that hit of blue cheese, whoa! These bacon wrapped tater tots are super easy to make and really please any bacon lover. I hope you enjoy!

Well it sounds great except for the bits of blue cheese alongside at the end. Why not make an awesome blue cheese dressing with good chunks and use it for a dip. Even better in my book.

Hi Laura – It’s funny you mention that as one of my friends suggested a sauce today. I immediately fired back that I wanted to do a blue cheese sauce, but I did not have a couple of the ingredients on hand for the sauce. Next time…

This sounds like a snack/appetizer that I would eat far too much of. In other words, I love these and want them right now! 😛
