Simple Comfort Food

Loaded Steakhouse Sandwich

I’m a sucker when it comes to sandwiches. However simple or complex, the sandwich hits a home run every single time. Whether it be a simple grilled cheese sandwich, a peanut butter and jelly, or a banh mi, the sandwich typically consists of really great bread, a condiment, and packed full of excellent fixings.

Loaded Steakhouse Sandwich with Fries and Chipotle Maynonnaise

This past weekend I had one of those hankerings for a really good sandwich. I already had a chipotle mayonnaise on my mind, and the instinct to go buy some really great bread. Then, I thought of thin slices of grilled beef, and fries, loaded on top. I had it. The vision was there and the rest is history.

This could potentially be one of my favorite sandwiches I have made thus far, and trust me, I have made a lot of them.

Ingredients:

Take the ingredients for the marinade, and mix well, making sure all of the sugar is dissolved. Add the beef to a large ziploc bag, add the marinade, and place in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours. The longer the better.

During this time, prepare the french fries, or at least the cleaning, slicing, and soaking.

Make the chipotle mayo, mix well, and place in the refrigerator to incorporate all of the flavors.

Preheat your grill to a medium, high heat. During this time, get your fries ready by heating up the oil, and begin making your fries.

Place your beef on the grill, and caramelize both sides. The thin slices of beef will only take a few minutes per side. Remove from the grill, and set aside to rest on a plate.

Butter your french loaf, and place on the grill to obtain a light crunch and some grill marks. Remove once you have achieved that.

Slice your beef against the grain. Your fries should be done now, and drained.

Get that chipotle mayonnaise out, and lather the inside of the french loaf, making sure to get the top and the bottom.

Add a bunch of the sliced beef, top with french fries, drizzle with more chipotle mayonnaise, and sprinkle the cilantro.

Enough said. This sandwich was phenomenal, and one that will really satisfy friends or family on a weekend evening. Enjoy.
