Rustic Spaghetti Sauce with Meat

Rustic Spaghetti Sauce with Meat

I am facing the reality that I planted too many tomato plants this year, and they are coming off the vine like you will not believe. I have made salsas, fresh tomatoes with soy sauce and fresh ground pepper, tomatoes on every salad, you name. […]

Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza

Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza

Bacon Cheeseburger PizzaI have to start by saying how surprised I was to see my wife eat this pizza. Not only eat it, but love it, and have it the next day for lunch, hence why I must document it. Upon frequenting our local pizza/game place (Stonefire Pizza), I notice that my wife always gets one type of pizza out of the 10 or so you can get, and it is not the cheeseburger pizza. On our last visit to Stonefire, I tried the cheeseburger pizza, and immediately thought I could make mine so much better.

This is another recipe that is so easy to make and truly has great results.

Ingredients:

  • Ground Beef, size of a large baseball, cooked
  • Chopped Red Onion
  • Cook Bacon, crumbled
  • Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • Ketchup or BBQ Sauce
  • Shredded Lettuce
  • Sliced Tomatoes
  • Pizza Dough

You have options on the dough; store bought, or making your own. I like making my own. Begin by cooking your bacon and ground beef. In the meantime, preheat your oven to 450 degrees, and if you have a pizza stone, keep that as part of the preheat. Chop your lettuce, and slice those tomatoes to set aside. Drain off all of the fat from the bacon and ground beef, and set aside. Now, if you have a pizza board, lightly dust with course corn meal as this will help slide the dough onto the stone. Lay the dough on the board and lightly add olive oil and salt and pepper to the dough. Slide this onto your stone and let cook approximately five minutes or until it becomes a light golden brown.

Slide out the oven tray and squeeze a bit of the bbq sauce or ketchup onto the dough. Add a bit of the cheese, then layer on the ground beef, bacon, and red onion. Add more cheese, then put back in the oven for another 7 minutes or so until everything is a deep golden brown and cheeses have melted. Top with the lettuce and tomatoes, then dig in! Trust me, this one is a sure bet.

Sopapillas

Sopapillas

Oh baby is typically what you will say when you eat these, then you will say it again. Fried dough? What could be better? The sopapilla is basically a quick bread that is fried and sweetened with powdered sugar, honey, or cinnamon and sugar. This […]
